Are you seeking smoother, younger-looking skin? Botox® and dermal fillers are some of the most popular aesthetic treatments available, and for good reason. Find out which injectable could be the right choice to help you achieve your beauty goals.

Do you want your skin to look younger and smoother? You’re not alone. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, Botox® and similar treatments increased by 73% from 2019 to 2022, while dermal filler injections were up 70% in the same period.

It’s easy to understand why these minimally invasive cosmetic procedures are on the rise. They’re quick, easy, and produce subtle but noticeable results.

At me.losangeles aesthetics in West Hollywood, California, our medical aesthetic specialists are experts at developing personalized treatment plans to help you look your best with a wide variety of customizable services.

If you’re new to injectables and you’re wondering whether you should get Botox or dermal fillers, or even a combination of the two, we can help you determine which product or combo is the right choice for you.

What is Botox best for?

Botox, short for OnabotulinumtoxinA, is a medication we inject into specific facial muscles to relax them and prevent them from contracting. A contracted muscle forms a line or crease, which deepens over time as you age.

Botox injections contain small doses of toxin that block nerves to temporarily stop the muscle from contracting, keeping the injected area smooth and line-free.

We use Botox to correct forehead wrinkles, crow’s feet, and lines between your brows, commonly called the 11s because of the two lines that form. Botox is best for lines caused by expressions such as smiling, squinting, and frowning.

What can fillers do?

We inject dermal fillers, sometimes called soft tissue fillers, below the skin’s surface to increase volume. As you age, your facial skin starts to sag and gives you a hollow look in some areas. Dermal fillers add volume to hollow areas or lift sagging skin, making your face look fuller and younger.

FDA-approved dermal fillers are made of either hyaluronic acid, calcium hydroxylapatite, or poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). Dermal fillers also provide temporary fixes to cosmetic issues. We commonly use fillers to plump up thin lips, fill in sunken areas under your eyes, and lift hollow cheeks or temples.

Which product is right for me?

The best product for you depends on what areas you want to address. In many cases, a combination of procedures can help you look your best.
